Hello Reader,
Happy New Year! We hope you had a fantastic holiday and are ready to dive into some exciting new photography projects!
December kept us busy with two workshops in Death Valley, one focused on intimate landscapes and the other on black and white. Check out our participants' inspiring images below! We loved helping them explore new ways of seeing. With limited personal time on this trip, we're eager to return in February.
Now back in Denver, we're tackling some big projects. I (David) am developing new Lightroom and ACR presets/tools (apply to be a beta tester below!). Jennifer recently hosted a webinar on successful 365 photography projects and released the first month of her own 365 project, which you can learn more about each below!
Soon, we'll escape to the snowy serenity of Yellowstone in winter, a welcome break from the city.
We're thrilled to announce our 2025 workshops are sold out! Thank you for your amazing support. Our 2026 workshop schedule will be released this spring, so stay tuned. You can also join us at upcoming conferences where we'll be teaching (details below).
Here's to an amazing 2025 for you and your photography!
Warmly, David Kingham and Jennifer Renwick

Even though our workshops are sold out, you can still learn with us at upcoming conferences! First up, Jennifer will be teaching at Out of Chicago Live!, an awesome online event. She'll be joining over 50 other amazing instructors for a weekend packed full of inspiration. You can join from anywhere in the world.
Then, later in the year, both Jennifer and I are honored to be presenting in person at the Moab Photography Symposium. We'll be there along with Guy Tal, Colleen Miniuk, Chuck Kimmerle, Charlotte Gibb, Michael Gordon, and Bruce Hucko. This event is a special one for me. It's a smaller, more intimate conference. This conference it focused on creating personally meaningful images and it had a huge impact on my own photography when I first attended. I'm incredibly excited to now be a part of it, and I'd love for you to join us there!

π To kick off the new year, we're highlighting some of our favorite year-in-review photography blog posts from our friends and colleagues this month!
Wow, we're completely blown away! All of our 2025 workshops have officially sold out. Thank you all so much for your incredible enthusiasm and support. We're beyond grateful for each and every one of you who has chosen to join us on these photographic adventures.
We're so excited to meet all of our participants and create some amazing memories and photographs together. If you missed out this time around, don't worry! Keep your eyes peeled because we'll be announcing our 2026 workshop schedule soon. We're already dreaming up some exciting new locations and experiences.
We had an amazing time in Death Valley in November and December! We were fortunate enough to lead not one, but two unique workshops in this incredible landscape. In November, we focused on intimate landscapes, helping participants discover and capture the subtle beauty often hidden within the grand scenes. Then, in December, we switched gears and dove into the world of black and white photography, exploring how to use light, shadow, and texture to create powerful monochromatic images.
Both workshops were filled with enthusiastic photographers eager to learn and explore. We were constantly inspired by their creativity and dedication to the craft. Death Valley's unique environment provided the perfect backdrop for both intimate landscape and black and white exploration.
We're thrilled to share some of the stunning work created during these workshops.
This workshop was a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience! David and Jennifer set the tone for a fun loving, growth experience. A milieu was established where photographers of all experience levels were welcome and provided with the appropriate level of input and feedback. I was gently pushed beyond my comfort zone which is a great place to learn! I highly recommend their workshops. βBill
David and Jennifer really know the Death Valley location for photographers. Whatβs more is that they scout the locations in detail immediately before the workshop. In an area where weather dramatically alters the immediate landscape, this is vitally important when you are spending your precious time there. Unlike many workshops, the instruction gets high priority, with classroom sessions where you learn steps towards that extra special image. In the case of the black and white workshop that I took, it involved Davidβs workflow that was simple, innovative and gave impressive results. Also field use of your camera divulges features that you never knew your camera had. βStewart
I applied to this workshop almost a year ahead and it was well worth the wait. The sand dunes photo op turned out to be my favorite location. Post-processing using Davids techniques was a new experience. I can't wait to experiment with images. I appreciated the rotating individual help both David and Jennifer provided at all locations. βJeff

Hello Reader, Greetings from the desert! David and I are enjoying the warmth of the Mojave, where we recently concluded our Death Valley Intimate Landscapes workshop. It was a wonderful experience as participants immersed themselves in the art of seeing and capturing the smaller details and stories within the landscape. We took a well-earned break for Thanksgiving, celebrating the holiday with friends in the desert. We also took time to hike, photograph, and relax. We're eagerly preparing for...
It's been an exciting and incredibly productive autumn travel season for us. Since wrapping up our first Yellowstone workshop, we've traveled over 5,000 miles, exploring new landscapes and chasing the elusive aurora. We've never covered this much ground in such a short time, and though exhaustion is catching up to us, we're grateful for everything we've witnessed and captured along the way. Our Yellowstone small scenes workshop went exceptionally well, with dynamic weather creating endless...
Greetings from Yellowstone! We're currently between workshops, having just concluded our Yellowstone Night and Day workshop last week with a wonderful group. It was thrilling to introduce night photography to our participants while also showcasing Yellowstone's daytime beauty during mornings and evenings - a unique aspect of this workshop. We had nearly perfect weather, and although we encountered some smoky skies, the wind fortunately kept most of it at bay during our night sessions. The...
